Bento ink. - Packaging

Bento lunch box packaging featuring screen-printed designs. Great for lunch breaks and picnics, this Bento brings a home packed meal in a stylish package.

This was a project of my own imagination, hoping to combine various skills I have developed (Branding, Printmaking, Packaging, and Photography) into a multidimensional product prototype.

Branding

I first set out to envision and create a brand for the product. I decided to create a screen printed bento box, which would feature a digital collage design inspired by Japanese art and advertising.

Box

I researched and chose an existing bento box that I could apply my screen-printed design to.

Logo

Once I had the product and brand image in mind, I created a logo to reflect the style and shape of the box.

Box Design

I then set out to create the box design, combining elements of photography with vector imagery. This two color design would make use of a dot pattern for the black layer to achieve more photographic detail.

Due to the outbreak of COVID-19, and less access to screen-printing equipment, I changed gears a little, opting for printing onto clear sticker sheets, which I then adhered to the plastic bento box surface. This proved to be a good alternative solution to create a working prototype.
